Zambia call on European-based stars

Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda has called on four European-based players for the four nations tournament hosted in Ndola later this month.

Zambia will play Zimbabwe in their semifinal match on March 22, with South Africa and Angola to contest the other fixture on the same day.

The final and third-place play-off will be played at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on March 25.

Nyirenda has called on striker Patson Daka FC Salzburg in Austria, along with Fashion Sakala (Spartak Moscow, Russia), Emmanuel Banda (Oostende, Belgium) and Enock Mwepu (Liefering, Austria).

That is in addition to four players in the South African Premier Soccer League, including the Orlando Pirates duo of Justin Shonga and Augustine Mulenga, Rodrick Kabwe (Ajax Cape Town) and Salulani Phiri (Polokwane City).

It is a mostly youthful squad, with stalwarts such as Kennedy Mweene of Mamelodi Sundowns and TP Mazembe skipper Rainford Kalaba not considered.
