Madagascar continue to shine at CAF Championships

COSAFA side Madagascar made it two from two at the CAF Beach Soccer Championships being held in Seychelles when they needed extra-time to defeat west African side Senegal.

With three points for a win and two of victory in extra-time, the triumph leaves Madagascar top of their Group B with five points, followed by Senegal and Morocco with three each, and Ghana, who have yet to get off the mark.

The Malagasy edged Senegal 3-2 in their encounter on Wednesday and must now beat Morocco to ensure a place in the knockout stages.

However, defeat may also see them advance if Senegal do not get the points against Ghana in their final pool game.

In Group A, Nigeria and Ivory Coast booked their spots in the semifinals but must still content who finishes top of the pool.

Nigeria defeated Egypt 4-1 to make it two wins from two, while Ivory Coast edged hosts Seychelles 2-1 to book their Last 4 spot.

The final round of pool matches will be played on Thursday, with the semifinals set for Saturday and the final to be played on Sunday.

The two nations that make the deciding match will also book a place in the 2015 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup to be hosted in Portugal later in the year.
