LaLiga and COSAFA spark passion for the Beautiful Game

Spain’s LaLiga, in partnership with COSAFA, conducted a hand-over of 30 soccer balls to the Clernaville Primary School in Durban on Monday, providing learners with the chance to practice their skills in the Beautiful Game.

The initiative is part of LaLiga’s commitment to help develop football on the continent by providing youngsters with the opportunity to play and grow a love for the game that they will carry into adulthood.

The pupils at the school were delighted with their gifts, with the handover conducted by the Chairman of COSAFA Competitions Committee, Mr Timothy Shongwe.

The 2019 COSAFA Cup is currently on the go in the Ethekwini Municipality as the top teams from the Southern African region, and East Africa guest nation Uganda, battle it out for the Cup and Plate trophies.

Antonio Barradas, LaLiga Managing Director in South Africa: “We are very glad to have another opportunity to support the football development in South Africa, joining forces this time with SAFA and, for the first time, with COSAFA.

“We are particularly excited about this action, as it is done simultaneously to the COSAFA Cup, one of the leading international competitions in Africa.

“LaLiga’s objective is that this kind of activations will make the youngsters be more interested in football and also strength the football industry as a whole.”
