Ecole Omar IBN Khatab of Morocco and Scan Aid of Gambia sealed their places in the girls’ semifinals of the CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Final at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban, South Africa on Thursday.
They will join Fountain Gate School from Tanzania in the Last 4 games to be staged at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday, with the fourth team still to be decided in Friday’s final pool fixtures.
Ecole Omar IBN Khatab defeated CEG de Mfilou from Congo 3-0 on Thursday as Malak Hajjam El Idrissi continued her fine scoring streak with a fifth goal of the tournament so far.
There were also strikes from Sara Dofry and Nada El Aslani as the Moroccans confirmed they will be among the teams to beat.
The same can be said for Fountain Gate, who put in a solid performance to see off Scan Aid 2-0 in the three-team Group A. Zainabu Karuka and Winifrida Gerald, with her sixth of the competition, got the goals.
Fountain Gate win the pool, while Scan Aid finish in second on goal-difference ahead of home side Edendale Technical from South Africa.
Guinea side CS Ben Sekou Sylla made a superb start to their boys’ competition with a pair of wins on day two. They were not in action when the competition got under way on Wednesday, but made up for lost time to take a full haul of six points from their opening two games.
Kemoko Mara and Mohamed Sacko were on target in a 2-0 win over CEG Sainte Rita from Benin, which was followed by a 1-0 win against Salima Secondary School from Malawi. Amara Keita got the only goal of that game.
CS Ben Sekou Sylla move to the top of the single boys’ group with those six points, followed by Clapham High School from South Africa on four. CEG Sainte Rita have three points and Salima Secondary one.
The final in both competitions will be played at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday, with tickets free to the public. These can be collected from the near the stadium on match day. There will also be plenty of musical entertainment.
Speaking to CAFOnline from the King Zwelithini Stadium, Fountain Gate’s coach, Veronica Kiondo cautioned against complacency, saying that there was still a lot of work to be done as the tournament will only get tougher moving forward.
“We have to keep our respect because these are champions from their respective zones so we cannot undermine anyone because it will get even tougher moving forward,” cautioned Kiondo.
While the school comprises of less than 400 students, of which around 60% are girls, the team looks like a well drilled machine which has really dominated their opponents.
“We are a school as well as an academy. We have children which we train regularly and develop them from the basic level for a long time. When it comes to the stage of playing competitions, it becomes an opportunity to assess where we are and where we are heading,” concluded the coach.
Meanwhile Coach of C,S Ben Sekou Sylla, Aly Cisse said he was impressed with how the boys performed so of far and that they fully deserve the qualification.
“Our boys had very tough opponents but we managed to get the result. This is a very difficult tournament and our boys performed very well in both matches. We just need to keep our focus and do our best to return with the trophy back home,” said Cisse.
The teams are vying to be crowned champions of Africa, but also for the USD 300,000 first prize in each competition. The Motsepe Foundation has donated USD 10-million to boost the competition in its inaugural year.

Du Beau Spectacle Au Deuxieme Jour Du Championnat Africain De Football Scolaire De La CAF
Dans le tableau féminin, l’Ecole Omar IBN Khatab du Maroc et Scan Aid de la Gambie ont assuré leur place pour les demi-finales de la phase continentale du Championnat Africain de Football Scolaire de la CAF au stade King Zwelithini de Durban, en Afrique du Sud, jeudi.
Ces deux formations rejoignent l’école Fountain Gate de la Tanzanie dans le dernier carré qui aura lieu au stade Sugar Ray Xulu samedi. Le dernier candidat sera connu ce vendredi à l’occasion du dernier match de groupe.
L’Ecole Omar IBN Khatab a battu le CEG de Mfilou du Congo 3-0 jeudi alors que Malak Hajjam El Idrissi a de nouveau étalé ses talents de buteuse en marquant son 5e but dans le tournoi.
Il y a également eu les buts de Sara Dofry et de Nada El Aslani. Cela démontre que cette formation sera très difficile à contenir.
Cela s’applique également pour Fountain Gate. Cette équipe a réalisé une solide performance avant de venir à bout de Scan Aid 2-0 dans le groupe A. Cette poule, rappelons-le, contient trois équipes. Zainabu Karuka a marqué alors que Winifrida Gerald a inscrit son 6e but dans la compétition.
Fountain Gate a terminé en tête du groupe tandis que Scan Aid prend la place de dauphin. Edendale Technical d’Afrique du Sud occupe le troisième rang à la différence de buts.
Le club guinéen du CS Ben Sekou Sylla a fait un superbe début de compétition chez les garçons avec deux victoires lors de la deuxième journée. Ils n’étaient pas en action lorsque la compétition a commencé mercredi, mais ils ont rattrapé le temps perdu pour récolter six points lors de leurs deux premiers matchs.
Kemoko Mara et Mohamed Sacko ont offert la victoire 2-0 contre le CEG Sainte Rita du Bénin, qui a été suivie d’une victoire 1-0 contre l’école secondaire Salima du Malawi. Amara Keita a marqué le seul but de ce match.
Le CS Ben Sekou Sylla prend seul la tête du groupe avec ces six points, suivi du Clapham High School d’Afrique du Sud qui en compte quatre. Le CEG Sainte Rita a trois points et Salima Secondary un point.
Les deux finales se joueront au stade Sugar Ray Xulu samedi et l’entrée est gratuite pour le public. Les billets seront disponibles à proximité du stade le jour du match. De nombreuses animations musicales seront également au rendez-vous.
Se confiant à CAFOnline, l’entraîneur de Fountain Gate, Veronica Kiondo, a exhorté ses troupes à rester concentré, affirmant qu’il y avait encore beaucoup de travail à faire car le niveau va augmenter.
“Nous devons garder les pieds sur terre face à ces champions de différentes zones, nous ne pouvons donc sous-estimer personne car cela deviendra encore plus difficile désormais”, a averti Kiondo.
Alors que l’école compte moins de 400 élèves, dont environ 60% de filles, l’équipe, elle, tourne à plein régime.
« Nous sommes à la fois une école et une académie. Nous avons des enfants que nous entraînons régulièrement et les développons depuis longtemps. Quand il s’agit de des compétitions, cela devient une opportunité d’évaluer où nous en sommes et vers où nous nous dirigeons », a conclu l’entraîneur.
Pendant ce temps, l’entraîneur de CS Ben Sekou Sylla, Aly Cissé a déclaré qu’il était impressionné par la performance des garçons jusqu’à présent et qu’ils méritaient pleinement la qualification.
“Nos garçons ont affronté des adversaires très coriaces mais nous avons réussi à obtenir le résultat. C’est un tournoi très difficile et nos garçons ont très bien joué dans les deux matches. Nous devons juste rester concentrés et faire de notre mieux pour revenir avec le trophée à la maison », a déclaré Cissé.
Les équipes se disputent le titre de championnes d’Afrique, mais aussi le premier prix de 300 000 USD. La Fondation Motsepe a fait don de 10 millions de dollars accentuer le niveau de la compétition cette année.

سينضمان إلى مدرسة فونتين جيت من تنزانيا في مباريات نصف النهائي التي ستقام في ملعب شوجار راي إكسولو يوم السبت، مع بقاء الفريق الرابع للحسم يوم الجمعة.
انتصرت مدرسة عمر ابن خطاب على فريق سي إي جي دي مفيلو من الكونغو 3-0 يوم الخميس فيما واصلت ملاك حاج الإدريسي سلسلة أهدافها الرائعة بهدف خامس في البطولة حتى الآن.
كما كانت هناك أهدافًا من سارة دوفري وندى العصلاني حيث أكد المغاربة أنهم سيكونون من بين الفرق التي يجب هزيمتها.
يمكن قول الشيء نفسه عن فونتين جيت، التي قدمت أداءً قوياً لتتفوق على سكان ايد 2-0في المجموعة الأولى المكونة من ثلاثة فرق.
