A new start date for the Mozambican league has been set to the start of next month after this weekend’s scheduled start was postponed.
The Moçambola-2017 will begin on March 4, according to a statement from the Mozambican Football League (LMF).
The absence of six clubs at the league’s planned General Assembly earlier this month meant the meeting did not take place, which forced the start of the competition to be rescheduled.
A new meeting will be held on March 1. At this meeting, the report and accounts for 2016 will be presented and discussed as well as the budget for this year and the logistical plans.
Chingale de Tete, Sport Niassa, ENH Vilankulo, Maputo Red Star, Maputo Sports League and Primerio Maio from Quelimane boycotted the meeting.
“The leadership of the Mozambican Football League considers the attitude of those six clubs to be unacceptable and inadmissible, as they seriously undermine the Statutes of the Mozambican Football League to which they subscribe. It is the duty of all member clubs to participate in the sessions of the General Assembly,” a statement said.
