Mkandawire pleased with She-Flames response

The Malawi National Women’s Football Team Head Coach Abel Mkandawire says the girls are responding positively to training as he aims at rectifying COSAFA mistakes ahead of next week’s encounter with Kenya.

Malawi host Kenya at the Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday in a 2020 Tokyo Olympic Qualifier second round first leg before the return leg four days later in Nairobi.

The team regrouped on Saturday after a week break upon their return from the COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa where they failed to go past the group stages.

“We have analysed all the three games we played in South Africa and have identified all the weaknesses which we are working on.

“But we also have intelligence on our opponents which will help us develop an effective game plan,” said Mkandawire

The She-Flames defeated Mozambique 14-1 on aggregate in the first-round back in May.

The winner between Malawi and Kenya will face the winner between Gabon and Ghana in the third round.
