Free entry to CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifiers 2023

Fans wishing to attend the CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifiers 2023 to will be staged in Durban from Aug. 30-Sept. 8, will once again be able to do so for FREE.

COSAFA remains committed to making its tournaments as accessible to as many fans as possible and by providing FREE entry to the stadium, it is a chance for individuals and families to take in some top class football.

This year’s Champions League qualifier will predominantly be held at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont, with the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu a secondary venue during the group stage.

Tickets will be available at the venues on match day and are limited to four per individual.

The Champions League qualifier will feature the best women’s teams from around the region, including home favourites Mamelodi Sundowns and 2022 winners Green Buffaloes of Zambia, who return to defend the title they won last year.

Buffaloes will take on Botswana side Double Action Ladies, who compete for the third year in a row, Lesotho Defence Force and debutantes Ntopwa FC from Malawi in their Group A.

Group B contains Sundowns, Olympic de Moroni of Comoros, Mozambican side Costa do Sol and Young Buffaloes from Eswatini.

The teams will face-off in a round-robin format with the top two sides in each pool advancing to the semifinals. The winner of Group A will meet the runner-up in Group B, and vice-versa.

Only the club that wins this year’s qualifier will advance to the continental competition, which is scheduled to be held in the Ivory Coast from November 5-19.

Sundowns were victorious in the inaugural COSAFA event in 2021 and then went on to be crowned queens of the continent in Egypt.

Buffaloes took regional honours last year but Sundowns also qualified for the finals in Morocco as holders, and lost in the decider to home side AS FAR.
