A number of COSAFA sides competing in the African club competition this weekend have work to do as they look at advance to the next round.

South African side BidVest Wits were surprise 2-1 losers at Reunion’s Saint-Louisienne but will be hopeful of overturning that deficit at home.

The island side have twice been to the semifinals of the defunct African Cup Winners’ Cup though and their history is littered with upsets.

Zimbabwe champions CAPS United were held to a 0-0 draw at top Lesotho side Lioli and will be wary of conceding a goal at home that will make their life much more difficult.

Mauritian side AS Port-Louis 2000 grabbed an excellent 1-1 draw with Kenyan club Tusker and will be confident of completing the job at home.

Township Rollers of Botswana lost 2-1 at fellow COSAFA side CNaPS Sport from Madagascar, but have the home leg to come.

The same goes for Mozambican side Ferroviário Beira, who went down by the same scoreline at Zanzibar side Zimamoto.

Other clubs who will be sweating are Zambian champions Zanaco, who were held 0-0 at home by Rwandan club APR, while Royal Leopards from Swaziland and Primeiro de Agosto of Angola take on AV Vita Club (away in DR Congo) and KCCA (Uganda) trailing 1-0.

Comoros club Côte d’Or are losing 2-0 as they travel to Ethiopia to meet St George.

In the Confederation Cup, both South African sides have work to do against fellow COSAFA opposition.

SuperSport United were held 0-0 in Madagascar against ASSM Elgeco Plus, while Platinum Stars hold a narrow 1-0 advantage over Mozambican side União Desportiva do Songo.

Comoros side Volcan Club played to an excellent 0-0 draw at Ugandan side Vipers, while Swaziland outfit Mbabane Swallows grabbed a 1-0 win at Botswana club Orapa United.

Ngezi Platinum of Zimbabwe will hope to see off Mauritian side Pamplemousses after a 1-1 draw away, but Seychelles club St Michel United must overturn a 2-0 deficit as they host Al-Hilal Al-Ubayyid from Sudan.
