Zesco United coach delighted with league title win

Zesco United coach Numba Mumamba has expressed his delight after guiding his side to a ninth Zambia Super League title on Sunday.

Zesco defeated NAPSA Stars 2-0 to take an unassailable lead in the tile race and sew up the championship with three games remaining.

“I am very excited lifting the championship with three games to spare. I came here for a job and I am happy we have achieved our objectives. I give credit to my players because this has been the most competitive league season,” Mumamba, who coached Zambia’s Under-20 side in the regional COSAFA competition, told his club’s website.

“I came in to try and strengthen the team by bring in young players so that they could blend together with the more experienced players for us to get results. I think the young ones have made a bigger difference. They have injected in a lot of energy in the team with the senior players supplementing.

“We give credit to the young players for showcasing their talent and for having great belief in themselves because it is never easy for young ones to come and start playing football at Zesco United.

“The guys who were here before us really helped us to settle and make sure that we work together and collected results as a team. This is what has made our work easy. This is a team effort which everyone who has been involved in should be extremely happy about.”
