Zambia to leave for Iraq on Tuesday

Chipolopolo coach Aljosa Asanovic has tweaked his squad that is currently in camp for this Friday’s international friendly match against Iraq by roping in four more players to replace Zanaco stars that will be unavailable due to CAF duty.

Zanaco have a CAF engagement this weekend against CS Sfaxien of Tunisia who beat them 1-0 in the first leg.

Asanovic had summoned the Zanaco quartet of Moses Phiri, Kelvin Kapumbu, Lameck Siame and Abraham Siankombo.

They have been replaced by Kafue Celtic forward Albert Kangwanda, Zesco United’s Chanda Mukuka and club mate Simon Simon Silwimba.

Nkana’s Kelvin Malunga will complete the list of call ups.

The Chipolopolo are expected to leave for Iraq on Tuesday before proceeding to France where they play Guinea Conakry on March 29.

Asanovic will have the full squad with foreign based players for the FIFA window assignments that will be used as a dress rehearsal for the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers that commence in June.

After the Iraq match the bulk of the local players will return home to pave way for the foreign based players.

FAZ has lined up two friendly matches during the FIFA window with the Guinea Conakry fixture confirmed while one more opponent has yet to be confirmed.
