Zambia ready for Elephants at CHAN

The Zambia national team go into the second match of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) against the Elephants of Ivory Coast with victory guaranteeing them passage to the quarterfinals.

Coach Wedson Nyirenda’s charges will be facing a wounded Ivory Coast that lost the opening match to Namibia with a second loss sending them packing making the match a potential cracker.

The Chipolopolo boys have been building for the Ivory Coast match conscious that it will be a huge fight at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.

Nyirenda is expected to keep faith with Toaster Nsabata between the sticks while the backline that was occasionally opened up by Uganda in the opening match will have to close up with skipper Ziyo Tembo commandeering things in central defence besides Adrian Chama while Simon Silwimba and Fackson Kapumbu will be on the right and left back respectively.

In midfield Kondwani Mtonga and Donashano Malama will do the mopping once again while Augustine ‘Diego’ Mulenga and Ernest Mbewe will be on the flanks with point man Lazarous Kambole teaming up with Friday Samu in the absence of the injured Alex Ng’onga.

Zambia tops Group B after beating Uganda 3-1 with Namibia on same points but separated by an inferior goal difference.
The match kicks off at 18:30 hours (Zambian time) and will be live on pay television channel SuperSport.

Namibia and Uganda will take to the field in the second Group B match at the same venue at 21:30 hours (Zambian time).
