TAVERN TALK: South African clubs chase Dube

Zimbabwe international striker Prince Dube is on the radar of South African Premier Soccer League club Ajax Cape Town.

It is understood side have been following the striker ahead of the new season as they seek a replacement for forward Nathan Paulse, who has retired.

It is for that reason that Dube, who is the Zimbabwe Premier League’s second top goalscorer, will not be returning home after the COSAFA Castle Cup tournament currently on the go in South Africa’s North West province.

A source close to his representatives has revealed that Dube is a wanted man and will be assessed by various clubs this month.

“I am certain that he will be going to Ajax for trials. They have been following the boy for a while and they are keen to see him in training. He will not be going back to Zimbabwe after the tournament,” the source revealed.

And the Highlanders forward, who was on target in the Warriors’ 6-0 win against

Seychelles on Friday, might even make a shock move to one of South African giants without undergoing trials.

“There is big club hunting for his signature. They don’t want him to do trials. They just want to sign him, but I cannot divulge the name for now. I might jeopardise the deal. For now, his signature is the most-sought,” the source continued.
