EN, FR, PR: Semifinals set at HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship

African champions Senegal set up a semifinal with Uganda at the HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Beach Soccer Championships at Durban’s South Beach Arena on Wednesday, with Egypt to tackle Mozambique in the other Last 4 match-up.

Those games will be played on Friday with the Senegalese first up at 10h30 CAT to be followed by the second semifinal at 12h00 CAT.

And the best news for those that want to take in the action live is that tickets are FREE!

These can be collected on a first come, first served basis either the day before the matches, or on match day. The outlets are Durban Parks and Beach office (blue building) and Wedge Beach (opposite the Edward Hotel).

Senegal crushed Seychelles 12-2 in their final Group B clash on Wednesday, equaling the biggest victory achieved at the tournament so far. Seychelles have been on the wrong end of both scorelines.

There were hattricks for Mamour Diagne, who took his tally in the competition to six, and Mamadou Sylla as the west African side were far too strong for their island opponents.

Senegal made the semifinals of last year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Russia, while Seychelles are hoping to host next year’s event.
Mozambique made sure of second place in the pool when they defeated hosts South Africa 8-4, the latter losing all three of their pool games on home soil.

Mambas star Nelson scored four goals in the game to head this year’s scorers’ charts with eight and stay on course to be the leading marksman in the competition for the second year running.

Egypt took top spot in a winner-takes-all battle with Uganda in Group B as they emerged comfortable 7-2 winners.

The hero for them was defender Hassan Hussein, who bagged a hattrick with some stunning along-range shots.

Last year’s beaten finalists Tanzania restored some pride with a 5-2 victory over Mauritius that ensured they avoided the wooden spoon in Group B.

Both teams had lost their first two games and were already out of the running for a semifinal place.

If you cannot be on the beach on Friday, there are many other ways to follow the action.

Matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport channel 205. You can stream these games via now.dstv.com.
