NFA congratulates Shalulile, looks forward to Bafana Bafana friendly

The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has congratulated Brave Warriors star striker Peter Shalulile for his shared top scorer accolade in the just ended South African Premier League.

Shalulile, who plays for Highlands Park, netted four times in the last six games inside the ‘bio-bubble’ to take his season’s tally to 16, which sees him snatch a 50 percent share of the R50,000 prize money. He shares the prize with Malawian Gabadinho Mhango.

“The NFA congratulates Peter Shalulile for his unprecedented achievement in South Africa. We are proud to have such a great ambassador in him, a player who gives his all, all of the time and who is continues to inspire by setting standards,” the NFA said in a statement.

The figure is the joint-highest total in a 30-game top-flight season since the legendary Siyabonga ‘Bhele’ Nomvethe found the back of the net 20 times in 2011/12.

Shalulile is expected to lead the line as the Brave Warriors take on South Africa in an international friendly match next month, subject to government approval and travel restrictions.

“We got an invitation from SAFA [South Africa Football Association] and they now confirmed that the game will take place in South Africa and not Namibia as originally planned.

“However, they are awaiting the announcement by their Government to allow international travel. Without that we won’t be able to get into South Africa,” explains Franco Cosmos, NFA Acting Secretary General.

The match will form part of the FIFA international break and is set to start on October 8.
