Mwase has contract extended by FAM

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) have extended the contract of coach Meck Mwase for a further 12 months, it has been confirmed this week.

The former Flames star was appointed in June 2019 and has just a single defeat in his five games in charge, away at Uganda in their previous 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

He has also managed home wins over Botswana and South Sudan, and away draws with Botswana and Lesotho in the past year.

Mwase has been tasked with leading Malawi to the Afcon finals, as well as excelling at COSAFA level.

He is currently in isolation at home having arrived back in Malawi from a fact-finding mission to Dutch side Utrecht that was cut short due to the coronavirus outbreak that has shut down world football.
