Mozambique’s squad for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals in Algeria slipped to a 3-1 friendly defeat as they continue to build towards their Group A opener against Ethiopia on Saturday.

The Mambas lost 3-1 to local club side MC Alger in what will have been a valuable runout for coach Chiquinho Conde.

That is not only true because it gave his side vital minutes on the pitch together, but also due to the fact that Mozambique will face hosts Algeria in their pool and therefore this was a good feel for the style of the opposition.

Striker Melque scored the only goal for the Southern African side, who have been in Algeria since December 30.

Conde is hoping to arrange at least one more friendly for his team ahead of their opener at the weekend.
