Malawi in camp to assess players

The Malawi national team has gone into camp for assessment as coach Ronny van Geneugden looks to build towards the African Nations Cup qualifiers that have been shifted to September.

Malawi are in qualification Group B along with Cameroon, Morocco and Comoros, and made a fine start to the pool last June with a 1-0 win over Comoros.

“All clubs must start preparations for the new season six weeks before kick off. So with Fifa calendar fixture coming in March it is important that our local players must be fit and ready for the match,” Van Geneugden told reporters.

The 22-man squad has eight players from the Nyasa Big Bullets club.
