Madagascar, Mauritius advance in CHAN qualifying

Madagascar and Mauritius have booked their place in the second round of qualifying from the Southern Zone for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Madagascar claimed an excellent 1-0 away win in Malawi to claim that tie 2-0 on aggregate and set up a second round meeting with Mozambique.

Njiva Rakotoharimalala scored the only goal for the Malagasy early in the second half.
Mauritius were held to a 1-1 draw by Seychelles, but advanced 3-2 on aggregate having claimed a 2-1 victory in the first leg.

They took the lead in Victoria on 15 minutes through Marco Dorza, but Leeroy Corallie equalised five minutes into the second period for Seychelles.

Mauritius will now meet Angola in the second round to be played in July.

Other second round games see Comoros take on Lesotho, Namibia tackle Zimbabwe, Botswana face-off against South Africa and Swaziland play Zambia.

The CHAN tournament is open to national teams that field only players who ply their trade in their domestic leagues.
