LISTEN! Strong start for COSAFA sides at AFCON

In our latest episode of The COSAFA Show as we look back on a superb first week for most of our Southern African sides at the Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast. Namibia beat the odds to defeat Tunisia, Mozambique drew with powerhouse Egypt, Angola held Algeria and Zambia played to a 1-1 draw with fancied DR Congo. Only South Africa have some work to do after they slipped to a 2-0 defeat to Mali. We will hear from several coaches and players.

Mozambique defender Edmilson adds his thoughts after the game. The Kaizer Chiefs defender was superb in his leadership role with The Mambas.

Peter Shalulile led from the front as Namibia defeated third-ranked Tunisia in a major upset at the finals, recording their first ever victory at Africa’s showpiece tournament.

Shalulile’s coach Collin Benjamin was delighted with his team’s performance and not surprised at all by their win. But he knows there is plenty more work to do as they face South Africa next on Sunday.

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos felt his side played well despite their loss, a first half penalty miss by Percy Tau denying them the lead in the game. It might have been a different outcome had he converted.
