Lesotho add five players to Afcon qualifier squad

New Lesotho coach Veselin Jelusic has added five players to his squad as the national team continues to fine-tune preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations preliminary round qualifier against COSAFA rivals Seychelles.

Jelusic, who watched his first Premier League matches over the weekend, has handed the Lesotho Defence Force duo of Motlatsi Kokoana and Tsiame Ramabele their first call-ups, along with Lesotho Correctional Services goalkeeper Tankiso Chaba.

Lesotho Mounted Police Service striker Monyatheli Ntobo returns to the squad having featured under previous coaches, while his teammate Ngaka Lenka is also among the new faces in the team.

Lesotho and Seychelles will be two of five COSAFA nations in action in the preliminary round of the qualifiers, from which teams will advance to the group stage that is set to begin in June.

They will face-off in home and away legs in the FIFA International window that runs from March 21-29, while Botswana will hope to see off Eritrea in their tie. Mauritius will take on São Tomé and Príncipe, while Eswatini face Somalia.
