Good wins for COSAFA sides in African club competition

There were a number of very good wins for COSAFA nations competing in African club competition over the weekend, with some putting a first foot in the next round.

Zambian side Zanaco claimed a 3-0 home success over Armed Forces of Gambia in the Champions League, while Township Rollers from Botswana sprung a major surprise with a 3-0 home win over Sudanese giants Al-Merrikh.

CNaPS Sport from Madagascar claimed a 2-1 home win over KCCA of Uganda and Mbabane Swallows were 4-2 victors at Lesotho side Bantu FC.

Another Zambian side, Zesco United played to a 0-0 draw at Tanzanian outfit JKU, while Primeiro de Agosto of Angola thumped Zimbabwean side FC Platinum 3-0 in Luanda.

South African champions BidVest Wits beat Pamplemousses 2-0 in a game in which they were more dominant than the scoreline suggests.

In the Confederation Cup, Cape Town City enjoyed a good debut at Young Buffaloes in Swaziland with a 1-0 success, while Costa do Sol from Mozambiqur beat Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana by the same scoreline.

Angola’s Petro de Luanda put one foot in the next round with a 5-0 home win over Masters Security if Malawi.
