Fixtures released for CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifier
Johannesburg’s UJ AW Muller Stadium will host the region’s top women’s club sides from August 22–31 as the CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifier brings together 10 teams from Southern Africa with the aim of earning the right to be COSAFA’s representative at the continental finals later this year.
Action kicks off on August 22 with Group A’s Beauties FC from Namibia facing Zambia’s Zesco Ndola Girls at 12h00 CAT (10h00 GMT), a battle between two of this year’s debutante teams.
That is followed by two-time continental champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa meeting Malawi’s Ntopwa FC at 15h00 CAT (13h00 GMT).
Group B begins the next day with last year’s beaten finalists Gaborone United Ladies of Botswana taking on Young Buffaloes from Eswatini at 12h00 CAT (10h00 GMT), while Group C starts with Zimbabwe’s Herentals Queens against Mozambique’s Costa do Sol at 15h00 CAT (13h00 GMT).
The group stage runs until 27 August, with each pool delivering three matchdays. Notable early fixtures include Sundowns’ meeting with Zesco on August 24 in a potential Group A decider, and Costa do Sol’s clash with Comoros champions Olympic De Moroni on August 25 in Group C.
Group B’s Young Buffaloes and debutantes Kick4Life Women FC of Lesotho face off on the same day in a match likely to influence semi-final qualification.
Every side will be eyeing a spot in the last four. The top team in each group will advance to the semi-finals, joined by the best runner-up across the pools.
The semi-finals are scheduled for August 29, with the first pitting the winners of Groups B and C against each other at noon, followed by Group A’s winner meeting the best second-placed team.
The final, on August 31, promises to be a high-stakes showdown for the coveted COSAFA ticket to the CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
With powerhouses like Sundowns seeking to regain their continental crown and ambitious challengers such as Costa do Sol and Zesco aiming to make history, the tournament offers both established quality and emerging talent.
Beyond the silverware, the qualifier serves as a showcase of the region’s growth in women’s football, offering players a platform to impress scouts and fans alike.
All matches will be broadcast live on FIFA+ and COSAFA’s YouTube Channel, ensuring supporters across Southern Africa and the world can follow every goal and drama from Johannesburg.
