Fixtures mark the path to Champions League glory

The start of the historic 2021 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League I COSAFA Qualifier is just 10 days away with the seven competing sides putting together their final preparations for the showpiece event.

The winner of the first ever regional club competition for women in Southern Africa will not only have their names forever etched in history, but also book a ticket to the continental finals in Egypt later this year.

There they will have the chance to claim the top prize as the best women’s football team in Africa, and each of the seven sides to take part in the qualifier in Durban from August 26-September 4 is determined to turn that dream into a reality.

The fixtures are out for the competition, which will be streamed live on www.cosafa.tv, and the very first game will see Double Action Ladies from Botswana up against Manzini Wanderers from Eswatini in Group A (kick-off 11h00) at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi.

That will be followed later at 14h00 by home favourites Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies against Lesotho Defence Force at the same venue.

The action in the three-team Group B begins on August 27 as Green Buffaloes from Zambia clash with Black Rhinos Queens from Zimbabwe at 14h00. TURA Magic from Namibia will enter the competition on August 29 when they meet Black Rhinos Queens.

Only the top two teams in each pool will advance to the semifinals.

All matches will be played at the King Zwelithini Stadium, bar the fixture between Lesotho Defence Force and Double Action Ladies that is scheduled for the Chatsworth stadium when the final games in Group A are played simultaneously on August 30.

The semifinals will both take place on September 2, with the Winner of Group B to play the Runner-Up in Group B at 11h00, and vice-versa for the second game at 14h00.

The final on September 4 will kick-off at 14h00. There will be no bronze-medal match.
