Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka struck twice in Red Bull Salzburg’s 2-2 draw with English champions Liverpool in a pre-season friendly match played at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg on Tuesday afternoon.

Daka was on the scoresheet in the 3rd and 13th minute to ensure that Liverpool ended their pre-season friendlies with a draw ahead of their Community Shield fixture against Arsenal at Wembley stadium next weekend.

Daka’s compatriot Enock Mwepu was also handed a start by head coach Jesse Marsch, while Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp named a strong starting 11 with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane all included.

But it was the Reds’ substitute Rhian Joel Brewster who levelled for Klopp’s team in the 72nd and 81st minutes as both teams shared the spoils.

Daka and Mwepu played 72 minutes.

The match was played in front of 1,250 fans who were allowed to attend the game for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic forced matches to be played behind closed doors with only a small number of officials and media present.
