COSAFA sides in AFCON warm-up matches

Two Africa Cup of Nations-bound COSAFA sides were in warm-up action on Monday as they fine-tune their preparations for the continental showpiece event in the Ivory Coast that gets under way on Saturday.

Namibia held a strong Ghana selection to a goalless draw in Kumasi, another fine result for coach Collin Benjamin.

Namibia have shown in recent times that they are a highly competitive team with no shortage of heart and fight.

It was the same spirit they showed in their 0-0 draw with South Africa in September, where Namibia were also a tough nut to crack. They are well structured and organised, and difficult to break down.

They had the usual suspects in their side, the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns forward Peter Shalulile and Orlando Pirates winger Deon Hotto.

Mozambique head to the Ivory Coast having played to a 1-1 draw with COSAFA rivals Botswana in neutral Johannesburg.

Midfielder Kabelo Seakanyeng put The Zebras ahead from the penalty spot but Alfons Amade equalised in the second half for Mozambique.

There are more games to be played this week as Zambia take on Cameroon in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday and South Africa have their one and only warm-up game against neighbours Lesotho in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
