
CAF U17 Girls Integrated Football Tournament by the Numbers
The second edition of the Confédération Africaine de Football’s (CAF) Girls Integrated Football Tournament (GIFT) will be staged in Harare, Zimbabwe from December 8–18 2025, with eight club sides from around the Southern African region competing for the title.
CAF has made the growth of women’s football a key aspect of its development agenda, and this tournament provides young players with the chance to showcase their skills and gain experience.
Here are the numbers behind the competition ahead of the group-stage draw that will be held at COSAFA House in Johannesburg on Friday, November 28 at 10h00 CAT (08h00 GMT).
1 – The inaugural winners of the CAF U17 GIFT in January 2025 were Tanzanian side JKT Queens, who beat compatriots TDS Girls 2–1 in the final.
1 – There will be one venue used for the CAF U17 GIFT, the Ngoni Mwos Stadium in Harare.
1 – Player of the Tournament at the inaugural CAF U17 GIFT went to Mary Siyane from TDS Girls after several outstanding displays, while Goalkeeper of the Tournament was won by her teammate Nusra Jafari. The Fair Play Award also went to TDS Girls.
2 – This will be the second edition of the CAF U17 GIFT after the inaugural event in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in January 2025.
2 – Matches will be streamed live to a global audience across two platforms – CAF TV and COSAFA’s YouTube channel.
4 – The eight competing teams will be split into two groups of four, with the top sides in each pool advancing to the final. The two teams that finish second in the groups will play off for third place, while the third-placed teams in each pool also meet, as do the fourth-placed sides. This will determine positions 1–8.
8 – Winfrida Gerald, previously also a star of the CAF African Schools Football Championship, finished as top scorer at the inaugural CAF U17 GIFT in Dar es Salaam.
8 – There are eight teams competing in the CAF U17 GIFT in Harare: Mpopoma Sports Academy (Zimbabwe); Otjiwarongo Sports Academy and Okakarara Golden Ladies FC (both Namibia); Luwinga Academy (Malawi); Lishoeshoe (Lesotho); Aguilla Girls FC (Zambia); Mamelodi Sundowns and Refilwe FC (both South Africa).
11 – The tournament will be played over 11 days in Harare, with the final and third-place play-off to be held on December 18.
17 – The tournament is for girls in the Under-17 age group.
150 – At the inaugural CAF U17 GIFT, there was a grassroots festival that brought together 150 local girls aged Under-13 to grow their passion for the game. The festival was overseen by local coaches and former players.
