Bright pleased with opening win at COSAFA Cup

Botswana coach David Bright hailed his players’ performance as they edged Angola 2-1 to claim victory in their opening Group B game at the COSAFA Cup on Monday.

Kabelo Seakanyeng and Onkabetse Makgantai grabbed first half goals as The Zebras made a winning start, though they might have triumphed by a greater margin were it not for some wasteful finishing.

“It was a tough game, but I am happy our plan worked very well since we did a very good management of the game,” Bright said. “In the first half our plan was to score two quick goals which we managed to achieve.

“In the second half we thought we could get one or two goals but my boys missed a lot of chances.”

Angola coach Srdan Vasiljevic said he has a young team with fresh new players in the national team set up with no experience.

The coach also added that they had very little time in preparing for this tournament adding that Botswana made the game more difficult for his boys by playing long balls

Botswana are next in action on Wednesday when they play Malawi at the Seshego Stadium.
