Botswana coach names provisional squad for COSAFA Women’s Championship

Botswana coach Gaoletlhoo Nkutlusang has named her provisional squad for COSAFA Women’s Championship to be staged in Port Elizabeth from July 31-August 11.

There are four new faces in the team – Amantle Sentsho and Susan Balangani, both from UB Kicks,  striker Popego Simon from BDF and Kesego Mathatsa, who is plying her trade at Double Action. Mathatsa played for Under-17 and Under-20 national teams previously.

In what is seen as reviving the striking department, crowd favourite Bame Ngenda has received her overdue call-up. She is the leading goal scorer in the local league.

The team will report for a full training camp on July 13 but have been reporting for weekend camps since April after their Olympic qualifier games against Namibia.

The Mares will know their opponents at the COSAFA Women’s Championship on July 3 when the draw is made for the competition.
