Botswana blow as Tholakele suffers broken leg

Botswana’s South African-based star Refilwe Tholakele has suffered a broken leg during a SA Women’s Super League clash for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies where she was already on the score sheet before colliding with Zimbabwe national team goalkeeper Cynthia Shonga, who was playing for Richmond United.

Despite this setback, Refilwe was included in the provisional squad for the Mares’ Tunis Women’s Cup tournament camp, which will take place in Tunisia, with Botswana’s first game on Saturday.

The Mares will play their first game against Tanzania and their final game against the hosts on July 15.

“It may be hard to see now, but better days are coming. While we wait for them, know that we will be by your side. Finally, we send you our best wishes and wish you a speedy recovery,” Botswana Football Association said.
