Beach Soccer referees to be put through their paces

COSAFA is hoping to add Beach Soccer to its calendar of events in 2022 and as such there are off-field moves to upskill not only players, but also match officials.

Beach Soccer is rapidly growing in popularity with Mozambique and the Seychelles set to represent the COSAFA region in the continental finals in Senegal that get under way on Sunday.

That will be an exciting challenge for those two, but the limited exposure of the game on the international stage in the COSAFA region means that prospective referees must be brought up to speed, hence an online course that will be held from June 1-4.

The course will mostly cover the laws of the game, taking the referees through practical examples, while there are also segments on positioning and the different signals used by match officials.

It will help to ensure that should Beach Soccer be added to the COSAFA calendar next year, officials are ready to handle the games, while also putting them in the frame for continental action as well.
