Ayanda Patosi cancelled out a Wakasu Mubarak spot-kick as Bafana Bafana and Ghana settled for a 1-1 draw here at Moses Mabhida Stadium in this exciting friendly international played on Tuesday.
Wakasu had given the visiting Black Stars the lead with a well-taken penalty midway through the first half but the home team came back strongly in the second half and the 1-1 scoreline was probably a true reflection of the encounter.
Substitute Thamsanqa Gabuza could have sealed the match for the home side but towards the end, blazed a good chance over the bar with only the keeper to beat.
Ghana were the first to settle down and in the 6th minute, Majeed Waris’ powerful shot was saved by Brighton Mhlongo in goals for Bafana Bafana.
The home team then fashioned their own attack on the 10th minute but Eleazer Rodgers was adjudged to have fouled a defender in the box.
In the 15th minute, Ayanda Patosi made an audacious attempt from 40 metres but his shot went wide of Adam Kwarasey in goals for Ghana.
With gusty winds pelting Moses Mabhida Stadium, methodical build ups became almost impossible but Ghana got a free kick on the 20th minute but it cannoned off the wall.
Both teams then created gilt edged chances but nothing came out of the build ups.
In the 37th minute, Isaac Nhlapo brought down Frank Acheampong and Wakasu Mubarak made no mistake from the spot to make it 1-0.
Mashaba then immediately substituted inexperienced Isaac Nhlapo who committed the foul for Ramahlwe Mphahlele in a bid to shore up the defence.
The pattern was almost unchanged in the entire second half as Ghana played with the wind enjoyed more territorial advantage. However, despite the pressure, they made little headway in creating chances.
