Angola hot-shot Gelson Dala delighted with scoring form

Angola forward Gelson Dala is looking forward to a quarter-final meeting with Nigeria after scoring two goals in a 3-0 victory over neighbours Namibia at the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.

The 27-year-old took his goals tally at the tournament to four with the brace as the Palancas Negras advanced to their first quarter-final since 2010.

“We had a good performance. The team deserved this qualification and I’m very happy we made it happen,” Gelson Dala said. “I will say the commitment and the involvement of all the players helped me in winning the Man of the Match.

Gelson Dala has a chance of winning the Golden Boot in the Ivory Coast, he is currently one goal behind leading scorer Emilio Nsue from Equatorial Guinea, who has since been knockout out.

“Scoring of goals here is making me happy and I would love to continue in scoring in this tournament and getting victories as well,” he said.

Angola have never reached the Cup of Nations quarterfinals, so have a chance to make history in the Ivory Coast.

South Africa are the other remaining COSAFA side in the competition. They meet Morocco in a last-16 clash on Tuesday.
