Zimbabwe were crowned champions of the 2016 AUSC Zone 5 Games in Luanda, Angola after beating their hosts by a single goal in the highly entertaining final on Sunday night.
An extra-time goal by substitute Anelka Chivandire was enough to crown the Young Warriors champions after a gruelling 120 minutes of play.
This after the match ended in a stalemate as both teams pushed for the goal however; goalkeepers Nssesani Simao of Angola and Martin Mapisa of Zimbabwe gave world- class performances.
Zimbabwe will keep the trophy for a whole year and will have the opportunity to retain it when the 2017 AUSC Region 5 Youth Games take place in Botswana next year.
This was confirmed after the Local Organizing Committee handed the torch over to Botswana, during the closing ceremony of the games prior to the match.
