CAF hosts Club Media Officers Workshop in Harare to strengthen communications capacity
The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) successfully conducted a two-day Club Media Officers Workshop from 07–08 December 2025 in Harare, Zimbabwe, bringing together local media professionals as part of CAF’s ongoing commitment to enhancing media operations and strengthening communication structures within African football.
The workshop was on the sidelines of the on-going CAF Under-17 Girls Integrated Football Tournament (GIFT) that is being staged in Norton, near Harare, from 08-18 December.
Hosted in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) , it formed part of CAF’s wider strategic objective to capacitate media officers with the skills, tools and best-practice knowledge required for modern football communications.
“It’s been an eye-opener, being taken through international best practices and seeing what we can implement here in Zimbabwe, said one participant.
“The significance of this workshop is that we heard from representatives from the highest level of organisation on the continent and that gives us confidence,” added another.
Participants received a series of in-depth presentations from CAF’s communications and media operations leadership team.
CAF Media Manager Charlotte Eyoum provided an extensive overview of CAF’s strategic communications objectives, followed by a detailed introduction to CAF Media Operations, including the Interclub competitions.
Eyoum also led the two-part session on Media Operations and Organisation, equipping attendees with practical insights into matchday delivery and media workflow management.
Further contributions on subjects such as CAF Interclub Media Activities and CAF Media Relations followed, before the second day was a practical session at the Ngoni Stadium during matches at the CAF U17 GIFT Zimbabwe 2025
Attendees observed the pre-match activities ahead of the opening match, offering real-time exposure to CAF operational standards.
The workshop concluded with a final recap and structured feedback session, allowing participants to engage directly with CAF facilitators and outline areas for continued collaboration and development.
“Having this workshop shows us that we (in the media) are very relevant in driving the development of football. There were more women than men in the workshop and that is very pleasing to see,” a participants said.
