Zimbabwe have highest win percentage in HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Cup

The HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Cup 2025 gets under way in Mangaung | Bloemfontein next week Wednesday when the best of the Southern African region meet to contest the crown.

It is a tournament first played in 1997 with Zambia having claimed a record seven titles, to go with six for Zimbabwe, five for South Africa, four for defending champions Angola and one for Namibia.

The fact that only five sides have won the competition, despite a host of top guest nations down the years, shows how difficult it is to be a champion in the COSAFA region.

Zambia have played the most games down the years with 73, followed by Mozambique (68) and Namibia (67).

But it is Zimbabwe who has recorded the most wins with 37, ahead of Chipolopolo (36) and South Africa (33).

Zimbabwe also have the best win percentage, having claimed victory in 57% of their games, ahead of South Africa (52%) and Zambia (49%).

South Africa have been involved in the most draws with 23, one ahead of Zambia, Namibia and Malawi, who all have 22.

Seychelles, who are not part of the field in 2025, have the most defeats with 29, one ahead of Lesotho. The Indian Ocean islanders have won only one of their 37 matches in the competition, which was a stomping 7-0 victory over Mauritius.

Zimbabwe have scored the most goals with 109, with Zambia the only other team into three figures with exactly 100. Lesotho are the team to have conceded the most with 86.
