Botswana part ways with experienced coach Bright

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) have parted ways with the senior men’s national team coach Major David Bright, Chief Executive Officer Mfolo Mfolo announced on Wednesday.

Bright was sacked following a disappointing showing in the African Nations Cup qualifiers, in which the team has so far failed to win a single game.

“Major David Bright went about his job as head coach with real commitment and dedication,” Mfolo said. “I would like to express our sincere thanks on behalf of Botswana Football Association. He is and will remain a defining face of Botswana football and I would be delighted if he wasn’t lost to us and keeps on helping us in any aspect of the game.”

Bright’s mandate was to improve national team rankings, qualify for AFCON 2019 and also reach COSAFA final, all of which did not happen.

He took over following the departure of Peter Butler in July 2017 and was given a three-year contract.
