2016 AUSC Zone 5 Games – Day One Wrap/Day Two Preview

The South African Under-20 Women’s side made an emphatic statement of their potential after defeating hosts Angola 6-0 in their opening match of the 2016 AUSC Zone 5 Games in Luanda on Friday.

The South Africans confirmed their status as pre-tournament favourites with a sparkling display of attacking football at the Estádio dos Coqueiros.

A hat-trick from Karabo Dlamini, along with goals by Khanya Xesi, Sibulele Molweni and Drishana Pillay gave the South Africans the victory as they made the perfect start to their campaign.

South Africa now look forward to their second game against Namibia on Monday, while Angola are next in action on the same day against Zimbabwe.

Saturday sees the second match in the women’s competition though as Zimbabwe and Namibia start their campaign at the Estádio da Cidadela at 15h30 local time (14h30 GMT).

There are also two games to be played at the start of the men’s Under-20 competition on Saturday.

Hosts Angola take on Zimbabwe at InterClube (15h30 local; 14h30 GMT), while later on Zambia face-off against Swaziland (17h30 local; 16h30 GMT).

The AUSC Zone 5 Games are hosted annually in a bid to unite the Southern African region, while promoting youth sports and sustainable development.
