Zambia U16 side head to Europe for tournament

Zambia Under-16 coach Aaron Kawangu says the boys are ready to make the country proud at this week’s UEFA Under-16 International Development Tournament in Georgia.

Speaking at Dubai International Airport before connecting to Tbilisi on Tuesday morning, Kawangu was confident that the team formed after the nationwide talent selection process will put in their best.

“Team Zambia is very ready for the tournament that starts tomorrow. We have prepared so well and are ready. The tournament is more developmental and it’s a good platform for exposure,” Kawangu said.

It’s a tournament that we need for football development and we are looking forward to do our best. I believe that the majority (of players) that are travelling for the first time are ready to do us proud as mother Zambia.”

Hosts Georgia, Zambia, Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia are the four countries taking part in the tournament that will run from 11-17 May at the GF Football Academy in Rustavi.
